Developing A Performance Coaching Cluture At Your Company

Overview: In addition to personal executive coaching, you may wish to create a coaching culture at your company for teams, departments, and divisions of your organization. ChoiceCenter’s Performance Coaching workshops are designed to empower supervisors, managers, and senior executives to be more effective coaches.

Our Performance Coaching workshops offer a hands-on experience in supporting others to set goals, take effective action, and achieve extraordinary business results. Available in either a two or three-day format, workshops are led by experienced facilitators who demonstrate and model world-class coaching in action. After a Performance Coaching workshop, many organizations choose to offer participants three to six months of virtual or face-to-face coaching support, so that results coaching becomes an established habit. Train-the-trainer programs, designed to assist your entire organization to achieve a high level of performance coaching expertise, are also available.

Performance Coaching workshops are not theoretical. They provide each participant with a powerful experience of coaching and being coached. Workshops begin by clarifying the crucial role of a coach in creating business results. With this context clearly defined, participants work with partners, small groups, and teams to learn a proven coaching model and apply it to real business situations. Listening and questioning—along with problem-solving, monitoring progress, intervening and correcting when goals are not achieved, and acknowledging success—are just a few of the coaching skills taught through role-playing and practice. There is time for discussion, for asking questions, and for understanding the difference between effective and ineffective coaching practices.

In our experience, coaching is an art, not a science. That’s why participants in a Performance Coaching workshop are given the opportunity to create a coach-player relationship in action, and to discover their own personal style of coaching. Included in this is understanding and practicing the key distinction between the language of coaching and the language of assessment, and learning how to give and receive honest feedback.

At the end of the Performance Coaching workshop, participants honestly assess their own areas of strength and weakness as coaches. Based on this assessment, they commit to goals and an action plan for themselves as coaches—and as leaders—for the immediate future. Through practice, committed participants learn to master the art of coaching. They go beyond technique to become personable, passionate, and artistic in their approach. They become proficient at listening to what others are really saying, and evoking in others the commitment that makes the difference between creating good—and great—results. Most important, they have a deep experience of playing to win in their own lives, and supporting others to do the same.
