Trey Harwell Achieves LV78 Leadership Goal to be Elected President of Tennessee Bar Association
Business and Career

Trey Harwell was a successful attorney with Neal and Harwell in Nashville, Tennessee when he entered LV78's Leadership Legacy course. But there was one thing he'd always dreamed of doing but hadn't had the courage to pursue be elected President of the Tennessee Bar Association.

An attorney since 1996, in 2008 Trey didn't have the experience most of the past Presidents had, nor the years of connections with other litigators that typically garner easy votes. But with renewed confidence and clear intention after graduating from Discovery and Breakthrough at ChoiceCenter, Trey authored his personal strategic plan for Leadership and declared he would be elected later that year.

Trey spent his 3 months in Leadership building relationships and sharing his vision for leading the Bar Association with fellow attorneys. On January 16, 2009, the 1995 graduate of Vanderbilt Law School was named President of the Bar Association. In August of the same year, he was named a "Rising Star" in the Nashville Business Journal's annual list of  "Nashville's Leaders Under 40."

When this former Eagle Scout isn't busy with civil litigation and white collar criminal defense, he volunteers time in his community, serving as Past Chairman and Board Member of the Tennessee Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. He is also an adjunct professor of Business Law at Belmont University.

Additional Leadership goals for Trey included writing a novel called "The Architect of Agony," and developing a collection of Haiku poems. Trey is an avid runner and has completed more than 30 marathons, including nine Boston Marathon appearances.

Trey graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University in 1992 with a major in English and minor in Psychology and received his J.D. degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law. To learn more about Trey, click here.
